Secerno Introduction and background

In 2008 Machiel van Duijn founded Secerno as a company of property specialists active in project development and acquisition and sale of Corporate Real Estate.

Secerno Real Estate BV, in addition to the company Secerno, was founded in 2013 with the most important objectives:

  • Initiating and managing real estate investment funds (Healthcare and Commercial Sale & Leaseback)
  • Participants participate by buying certificates based on shares in the fund.
  • Management of the funds is done in such a way that the investor has a clear picture of:
    • Risks
    • Costs
    • Profits from the participation in Secerno Real Estate Funds.

In December 2015, the Secerno HealthCare Real Estate Fund B.V. set up and registered with the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets with licensee Secerno Real Estate B.V.

The depositary of the Fund has an AIFMD (Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive) license.

  • Office parks and office buildings

Buying and selling of corporate real estate

Sale of property and portfolios that may or maynot be suitable for reuse or re-development.

Secerno Real Estate B.V.

Depending on the type and risk profile of the participant, the involvement can be in the form of investment by :

  • Preference shares in the Fund entity,
  • Certificates issued by the Foundation Administration Office Secerno Funds,
  • Shareholder in a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) which is used for the Property Development,
  • Investment as an obligatory- or asset backed loan to a Fund or SPV.

With over 25 years of international experience as :

  • Country and regional Director of technical account management with both financial and operational, responsibility for EMEA reporting to senior management in London and United States
  • Performing a major role in building Siebel Systems Inc. which is eventually taken over by Oracle Inc. for $ 5.85 Billion.
  • In 1991 Barry completed his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at Nyenrode (NL)/Rochester (USA) University

Barry is responsible for :

  • General Management, strategy of the company
  • Maintaining relationships with investors and strategic partners
  • Design and development of Technical management solutions

Richard Berkenbosch

(Director Finance)

Richard  Berkenbosch  has more than 25 years Controlling and Accounting experience in medium-sized and large companies as :

  • Group Controller,
  • Financial Controller and
  • Finance Director working with Transport, Service and Property Development companies.

In 1991 Richard completed his Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Nyenrode/Rochester University. Richard manages relationships with financial institutions.

His focus is on

  • financial reporting
  • management reporting, compliance,
  • treasury, liquidity, tax matters.

40 years in Real Estate, Machiel brings experience in various aspects of :

  • Project Development of larger Multiple-disciplines and Urban Developments
  • Management of Real Estate and Project Development Companies, CEO of private property funds

Before Secerno Real Estate , Machiel made his career as a manager, COO at architectural firms, construction and COO development companies and as shareholder / COO of a real estate development company.
